What are removable dentures?

Removable dentures are artificial teeth used to replace teeth that are missing. Dentures can be either full or partial, depending on how many teeth need to be replaced. Full dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Removable dentures consist of artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base. The plastic base contains small holes through which the user can place the tongue. The denture is held into place in the mouth by a natural suction, though denture adhesive can also be used for additional support.

What are implant-supported dentures?

Implant-supported dentures are a type of overdenture that is held in place by dental implants. Implant-supported full dentures offer the most stable fit, similar to your natural teeth. Partial dentures are also held in place, but stay in place using small clips or magnets.

How much do dentures cost?

The cost of dentures will vary greatly, depending on where you go for your dentures. A regular full denture will cost around $800, whereas a denture implant can cost between $3,000 and $8,000. A partial denture will cost between $300 and $1,000.

How long does it take to get used to dentures?

Dentures can take some getting used to, both physically and psychologically. It’s common to experience irritation, difficulty speaking, or trouble chewing certain foods. If your dentures are ill-fitting, they can irritate your gums and soft tissues and cause sores.

After your initial adjustment period, however, you should be able to eat and speak normally, and your dentures should feel more natural.

Do dentures look natural?

With today’s technology, dentures can closely match the appearance of your natural teeth.

Dentures can be made of acrylic resin, metal, or porcelain. They can be made to fit your mouth snugly, or with a space that allows for easy removal. Dentures can be as natural-looking as you would like them to be.

What types of dentures are there?

There are three types of dentures: full, partial, and implant-supported.

1. Full dentures replace an entire upper or lower arch of teeth.

2. Partial dentures replace a few missing teeth, while fitting in with your existing teeth.

3. Implant-supported dentures are dentures that snap on top of dental implants. Implant-supported dentures, like full dentures, replace an entire arch of teeth.

What are immediate dentures

Immediate dentures are dentures that are placed the same day that your teeth are extracted. After your extraction procedure, your oral surgeon will take measurements and create models of your jaw. These models will be used to create your dentures. After your extractions, your dentures will be ready for you to pick up.
